Beginnings (aka Trailhead)

So this will be a blog about my hiking and camping adventures ... most of which will be with my most amazing hiking and camping companion, Rosie the Dog.  We are just starting out - getting in a hike every weekend and trying to extend the miles each time.  Getting used to walking with a backpack on - both of us.  Rosie has her own backpack because in this camp everybody is responsible for carrying his/her own water and food.  I'm trying out different camp food - most of which doesn't require much cooking.  So I'll have reviews of food that's easy to transport and prepare.  Maybe a good recipe every now and then.  I'll let you know the good books I'm reading about hiking and camping.  Hint - A good one to start with is Wild:  From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail by Cheryl Strayed.  And for those that think there's no good hiking or camping in the Dallas area ... I'm going to prove you wrong, babycakes.  And of course, there will be lots of photos.  I go nowhere without a good camera.  Hey, this sounds like a pretty cool place to hang out, right?  I think so.
